One of the numerous issues that will be discussed by Columbia’s city manager during his state of the city address today will be GO COMO, which is Columbia’s bus system.
Olsson, a consulting firm, is currently doing a comprehensive transit study in Columbia. The study will consider strategies to increase public transit ridership and make public transit a more practical option. Increasing bus ridership has been a priority for Columbia city manager De’Carlon Seewood, who delivers today’s address at noon.
Columbia’s city council heard a detailed report about Go COMO in March. The report said that since bus routes were combined in August, fixed route ridership has decreased an average of 40 percent per month over the previous year.
