The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department plans to begin a $1.1 million improvement project at the aging Lake of the Woods pool this fall, after the city council approved the project Monday evening.
City manager De’Carlon Seewood recommended council approval, which is being funded by the voter-approved 2021 park sales tax. City officials say the pool hasn’t had any major renovations or improvements in more than 24 years.
The council’s three-page packet indicates the improvement project approved by the council would renovate all areas of the swimming pool and deck, replace all mechanical equipment and would remove the existing concrete deck surrounding the pool.
