The trial of a well-known Columbia businesswoman accused of a more than $1-million embezzlement scheme has been delayed until 2025.
63-year-old Kat Cunningham of Rocheport was indicted by a federal grand jury in January 2023 for allegedly using her payroll services company in a $1.5 million embezzlement and fraud scheme.
She’s the former chief executive officer and owner of Columbia-based Moresource Incorporated. Federal prosecutors say Cunningham allegedly embezzled more than $1.5 million in payroll deposits from 24 Moresource clients. The 38-count federal indictment also accuses Cunningham of defrauding the Small Business Administration (SBA).
A federal judge has granted Ms. Cunningham’s motion to continue her trial, which was originally set to begin on July 8. It’s now set for February 2025. It will take place at the Christopher Bond federal courthouse in Jefferson City.
