Remnants of Hurricane Beryl dropped rain on the St. Louis metropolitan area throughout the day on Tuesday, postponing the Cardinals-Royals game at Busch Stadium.
The Cardinals and Royals will play in a split doubleheader on Wednesday, with the first game starting at 12:45 and the second game at 6:45. You’ll hear both broadcasts here on 939 the Eagle.
St. Louis is 12-5 in its last 17 and are now just four-and-a-half games behind first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central division. The Royals are 49-43 and are in third-place in the AL Central, nine games behind first-place Cleveland. It’s a two game series and the Cardinals are off on Thursday.
A number of mid-Missouri baseball fans are expected to attend today’s doubleheader. The 6:45 game will feature a Whitey Herzog t-shirt for fans. Mr. Herzog, who died in April at the age of 92, managed the Kansas City Royals from 1975-1979 and managed the St. Louis Cardinals from 1981-1990.
