Court documents indicate a Columbia shooting suspect jailed without bond for Wednesday’s shooting on Lincoln drive has ties to Little Rock, Arkansas.
Boone County prosecutors have charged 18-year-old Jeremiah Johnson with first degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Boone County Circuit Judge Kevin Crane has denied bond for Johnson, who is expected to make his initial court appearance via video Thursday afternoon on either the 1 or 1:30 docket.
Columbia Police say the incident happened at about 1 am Wednesday on Lincoln drive, near Providence and Worley. CPD investigators say the victim was shot multiple times and suffered serious injuries. The Columbia Police Department’s redacted two-page probable cause statement quotes Johnson as telling police that he went to Lincoln drive to make contact with someone “over a dispute.” Johnson tells police he was walking down Lincoln drive and was shot at, before he returned fire.
Columbia Police describe their investigation as ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.
