The Boone County Fair begins today (Tuesday) at 5 pm at the fairgrounds on Oakland Gravel road, and state transportation officials say you’ll need to give yourself extra time to get to there all week.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) says bridge work on Highway 63 continues, which will impact fair traffic. MoDOT says the passing lane on both northbound and southbound Highway 63 is closed from Route B (Paris road) to Highway 763, and will remain closed until mid-August.

The fair continues through Saturday and the hours are 5-10pm daily. Tickets are $15 for today-Friday, and $20 on Saturday. Children six and under a free and veterans are free as well, courtesy of the Columbia-based Veterans United Foundation. The fairgrounds, which are officially known as Northeast regional park, are located on North Oakland Gravel road.

One of the most popular fair events is the ham breakfast, which is Saturday morning at 8. Just Jeff’s is catering the breakfast again this year. The fair will also include fair food like funnel cakes and nachos, and there’s also a petting zoo and face painting.
