2024 statistics from Columbia Regional Economic Development Incorporated (REDI) show that Midway USA is one of the top 25 largest employers in Columbia/Boone County. Midway USA founder Larry Potterfield joined host Fred Parry in-studio Saturday morning on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable” program. Mr. Potterfield tells listeners that they currently have 360 employees. He describes his company as s shooting, hunting, outdoor and fishing internet retailer. Midway USA celebrated its 47th anniversary in June, and Mr. Potterfield emphasizes it’s a private, family business and that there is no thought about going public. Mr. Potterfield grew up on a farm in northeast Missouri’s Marion County, near Hannibal. His family also has ties to northeast Missouri’s Monroe City. It’s called the Roosevelt building. Mr. Potterfield tells listeners that the new building is expected to be ready in September 2025. Columbia-based Coil Construction is handling the project. Coil has built numerous projects in mid-Missouri in the past 49 years, including the Missouri Heart Center and the Broadway Bluffs shopping center. It’s no secret that Mr. Potterfield spends top dollars for quality: He tells listeners that there will be employees working in the Roosevelt building 500 years from now. “And the directions we give them is it has to be built to last as long as the pyramids,” Mr. Potterfield tells 939 the Eagle’s Fred Parry. You’ll also see more than 1,000 trees on Midway USA’s massive campus in the Rocheport area: Mr. Potterfield confirms the landscaping budget alone at Midway USA is $1.3 million:
