Columbia police are planning public meetings to share their plans for purchasing and implementing automatic license plate readers in the city. CoMoBUZ.com reports that police say the technology would enhance their capability to locate wanted vehicles. It would come from Flock Safety, which is already operating in more than 2,000 cities. But the American Civil Liberties Union warns that Flock Safety is creating a privately-held, nationwide, mass-surveillance system.
