Look for construction to begin this summer on a $4.8-million plan to redesign the former automated flight station building at Columbia Regional Airport (COU) for numerous purposes.
Columbia’s city council voted to approve construction of the improvements after a public hearing Monday evening. The project will be paid by terminal project dollars.
City manager De’Carlon Seewood says the former building will be used for airport administration offices, car rental space and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) offices. Columbia Regional Airport’s 23-million dollar new terminal opened in October 2022.
