More than 150 Columbia manufacturing jobs will be leaving by the end of October.
939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy, the publisher of Comobuz, reports the Japanese manufacturer Otscon has notified the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) that it will be closing its plant on Route Z east of Columbia and permanently eliminating the positions of 160 employees who work there.
Otscon manufactures parking brake systems for the automobile industry. Otscon’s website says it specializes in parking brake systems and brake pedals. Otscon announced in April that it would close its Columbia plant after 36 years in operation. Their notice to DED says the plant’s final day in operation will be on Halloween.
