Court documents say a Columbia shots fired suspect was on bond for resisting arrest, tampering and leaving the scene of an accident in Callaway County. He’ll make his first court appearance in the new weekend case today.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 18-year-old Dontay Williams with first degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action and two counts of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle. All are felonies. Williams’ initial arraignment is set for 1 pm today before Judge Kayla Inez Jackson-Williams in Boone County Circuit Court.

The alleged incident happened early Sunday morning on Paris road. A court filing from the Boone County prosecutor’s office says Williams allegedly fired a gun at someone who had just exited a vehicle, and that there were two small children inside the vehicle. The Columbia Police Department’s heavily-redacted three-page probable cause statement says damage to the vehicle hit by gunfire is estimated to be $8,000.

Williams was captured after a Tuesday afternoon standoff at the Columbia Square apartments. Columbia Police describe their investigation as ongoing and they encourage anyone with information on Sunday’s incident to call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.
