Homeowners in Boone County age 62 and over will soon be eligible to get a freeze on future increases to their property taxes. Boone County Presiding Commissioner Kip Kendrick told CoMoBUZ.com Wednesday that commissioners plan to implement the new state law as early as next week. The legislation was passed earlier this month by the general assembly and awaits the governor’s signature. It will allow homeowners aged 62 and over to apply for the freeze at the county collector’s office. The property taxes on their primary residence will then be frozen at 2024 levels and they will not have to pay future tax increases related to increasing assessments or rates.
